How do I get a library card?

Library membership can be purchased in person at the library.
Annual Library Membership fees effective May 1, 2015:

  • Adult: (18+) $20
  • Child: with adult card free
  • Juvenile: (13-17) free
  • Student: (18+) $15
  • Senior: (55+) $15
  • Family - 1 adult and any number of children under one roof: $20
  • Family - 2 adults and any number of children under one roof: $25
How do I search for library items online?

You can search for books, DVDs, audiobooks, video games, and more using the online library catalogue, called TRACpac.  

How do I view my account online?

Visit the library catalogue at tracpac.ab.ca and login using the barcode number from your library card and your PIN. 

I forgot my PIN/PASSWORD, what do I do?

Your PIN/Password is the last 4 digits of your phone number, unless you have changed it. If you are unsure of your PIN/Password, click the I forgot my password link in TRACpac, or give us a call.

How do I renew my library items?

Items may be renewed up to two times, as long as there are no holds on the items. Items may be renewed in person, by phone, or online.

How do I place a hold?

Holds may be placed in person, by phone, or online.

How do I access eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, and other digital content?

What happens if I return library items past the due date?

Overdue fines are charged at 25¢ per item per day for books and audiobooks. Fines for DVDS, boardgames, and tools are charged at $1.00 per day.

Note: When fines reach $10.00 and above patrons are unable to access eresources (such as Ebooks, Pressreader, Flipster, etc.) or renew books through tracpac.ab.ca

What happens if I returned my items, but forgot to put the DVD (etc.) in the case?

The Library will call you right away if you forgot to return a particular item. However, please note the late charges (if applicable) will accrue on the item until it is returned in full. 

What happens if I lose or damage a library item?

Do not repair books with tape as the acid is bad for books. We have staff on hand that take care of mending of materials. Please inform staff of the damage to an item so we can assess it. If the Item is beyond repair or lost, replacement charges will apply.

Can I leave my child in the library during a program?

No. In accordance with the Cochrane Public Library's Code of Conduct, all children under the age of 12 must have an adult in the building with them at all times.
