TD Summer Reading Club is Canada’s biggest, bilingual summer reading program for kids of all ages, all interests, and all abilities. This free program is co-created and delivered by more than 2,000 public libraries across Canada.  It celebrates Canadian authors, illustrators and stories. It’s designed to inspire kids to explore the fun of reading their way – the key to building a lifelong love of reading.

Get ready for a summer full of creating, reading, and winning great prizes!

Why it is special

Kids (and their caregivers) can participate anytime, anywhere –  online, on the road or wherever their summer takes them.

Participants explore recommended reads; track their own reading; connect and share with others across the country; read books online; join in activities;  write jokes, stories and book reviews, and more. There are great resources for kids with print disabilities as well as for pre-readers and their families.

Real Impact

It’s big – and getting bigger every year! A recent tally of TD Summer Reading Club numbers shows the significant impact of the program: 831,546 participants in more than 45,000 programs that were delivered by 2,050 library branches across the country.

How the program works

Being a part of the Summer Reading Club is easy! Simply register online through the TD Summer Reading Club website, grab your notebook from the library, and read anywhere and anything! Earn treasure chest prizes for each page filled out in your notebook. Once your notebook is full, enter your name into our grand prize draw!

  • Any and all reading counts! Audio books, graphic novels, magazines, anything!
  • Kids can gain prizes by recording what they’ve read in their notebooks. Entries can include: read for 20 minutes, read a picture book, listened to an audio book, read with mom and dad. A minimum of 7 lines on a notebook page means they’ve earned a prize from our treasure chest!
  • Once you've reached the “Congratulations!” page (6 pages) in your notebook, you can enter their name on a ballot into the grand prize draw! Stay tuned for a full listing of our grand prizes!
  • Feel free to use the other side of the notebook to keep reading and earning prizes!
