Cochrane Public Library's Response to COVID-19

The Alberta government has announced that as of September 15, a state of public health emergency has been declared.

NEW: September 20 restrictions

The following are mandatory public health measures that the Cochrane Public Library will be following:

1) Masks are mandatory for all staff and patrons (ages 2+) while using the library. Masks will be available at the front door for patrons if needed.

2) Maintaining 2 metres distancing between members of different households; additionally, attendees (library patrons) must be with household members only or 2 close contacts if they live alone, and

3) Library capacity will be limited to 1/3 fire code occupancy. 

4) Some children's programming may be offered again in person however masking, distancing, and symptom screening will be required.

5) Eating and drinking is not allowed in the library at this time.

CURB SIDE PICK-UP HOURS (May 28-onwards):

Monday - Thursday:  10:00am - 8:00pm 

Friday - Saturday: 10:00am - 6:00pm

Sundays: 12:00pm - 5:00pm

REOPENING HOURS (June 10-onwards)

Monday - Thursday:  10:00am - 8:00pm 

Friday - Saturday: 10:00am - 6:00pm

Sundays: 12:00pm - 5:00pm


As of September 4 the Alberta government has mandated masks in all public spaces. Masks are mandatory when using the library. Alberta Health mandate

Here is how the Library is still working hard to keep our patrons and staff safe:

-Hand sanitizer will remain at the front door and around the building to use

-Disinfecting surfaces will continue

-Masks are mandatory. All patrons must wear a mask while using the library. 

-Computers will remain distanced and with a 1 hour time limit

-Social distancing is required. Please social distance with  Library staff and Library visitors who are not with your group.

-No eating or drinking will be allowed.


-Computers will be available to use but limited to 1 hour. 


Our book drops are now open for you to return your checked out library items.

  • Please return all physical items (tools, outdoor equipment, games, telescopes, etc.) via curb side pickup (call 403-932-3732). DO NOT return through the book chute.


Place items on hold and pick them up when you're notified that they are ready. 

Pickup is available: Monday-Thursday 10.00am-8.00pm | Friday-Saturday 10.00am-6.00pm | Sunday 12.00pm-5.00pm
